Department of Microbiology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) organized a Poster Competition on 27th September, 2023 for the students of B.Sc. Honors Microbiology semester III and semester V based on the theme “Environment Awareness and Vector – borne Diseases Management”.
A total of eleven groups of five each participated in this competition and exhibited different posters on vector borne diseases like Chikungunya, Dengue, Malaria, Filariasis, Sleeping sickness, Yellow fever, Chagas disease, etc.
The competition was adjudged by Dr. Madhu Rani Sinha, Head, Department of Chemistry, Patna Women’s College and Dr. Pinky Prasad, Head, Department of Botany, Patna Women’s College. The posters provided a clear understanding of different vector borne diseases, its symptoms, epidemiology and precautions thus spreading environmental awareness. The judges were overwhelmed by the posters and gave their valuable feedbacks .The various topics addressed in the poster was also appreciated by Dr. Aprajita Krishna, Dean, Faculty of Science, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous). Dr. Jaya Philip, Head, Department of Microbiology, Patna Women’s College(Autonomous) thanked the judges and announced the results. The 1st prize was bagged by Group B for ‘Chagas Disease’,2nd prize was bagged by Group L for ‘Dengue’ and 3rd prize was bagged by group E for ‘Yellow Fever’
The event was successfully organized under the enthusiastic supervision of the teachers of the department.
