Skin Health Awareness for College Students

Health Centre, Department of Home Science had organised a lecture on “Skin Health Awareness for College Students” on 22/10/2024 at 11:30 am in Carmel Hall. The resource person of the programme was Dr. Vikas Shankar, Associate Professor, Department of Dermatology, Patna Medical College and Hospital, Patna. The primary objective of the event was to enhance public awareness regarding health of our skin.
The programme started with the welcome address given by Dr. Shazia Husain, Assistant Professor and In-charge of Health Centre, Department of Home Science. The resource person emphasised on preventive measures, early detection and seeking professional advice from the right place. He also highlighted the importance of effective skin care routines and making the right choices of skin care product. Additionally, he discussed the negative effects of influence social media on skin, positive effects of healthy eating including green leafy vegetables and fruits and consumption of adequate water in the diet on a daily basis. His deliberation included the beneficial effect of exercise, yoga and adequate sleep on healthy skin and hair. The session came to an end with interactive session with the participants.
Reena Kumari, PG student proposed a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all those involved in the programme. The event was moderated by Neha Kumari, an undergraduate student. The programme was attended by faculty and post graduate students of Home Science, Political Science, Zoology, Biotechnology, Geography, English, Psychology, Physics and Social Work courses. A total of 151 participants attended the programme.
The programme was organised by Dr. Shazia Husain, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science under the guidance of Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Vice Principal and Head, Department of Home Science, Patna Women’s College.
