1. Event: Educational visit to Bihar Legislative Council, Patna

Date: 05.04.2023

Time: 11:30 am-1:00 pm

Venue: Bihar Legislative Council, Patna

Facilitator: Mr. Adweetiya Sinha

The students of MA SEM II and MA SEM IV visited Bihar Legislative Council to experience the functioning of the Council. It was 203rd session of Bihar Vidhan Parishad. The students had a first – hand experience of the house proceedings. The Chairman of the Council, Shri Devesh Chandra Thakur had an interaction with the students. The educational trip was facilitated by the faculty members of the department – Mr. Adweetiya Sinha and Ms. Simran Sinha. It was an enriching experience for everyone.

 

 

2. Event: Mock Parliament

The Department of Political Science in collaboration with Department of History organized Mock Parliament on 14thApril, 2023 to commemorate 132nd Birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar on virtual platform, Zoom.

The students of BA SEM IV from both the departments participated in the programme. Mock Parliament is a way to teach the students the working of the Parliament, to inculcate in them constitutional values and to make them responsible citizens. It also enhances their debating and public speaking skills. During the proceedings, the students acted as Speaker, leader of the opposition, railway minister, Prime Minister, Home minister. They took oath of office in various languages-Hindi, English, Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali. They discussed on various issues like problems in J and K, high rate of inflation. Deliberations were held on Right to free education to Women Bill. The bill was passed after the third reading. The programme was coordinated by Mr Adweetiya Sinha and vote of thanks was given by Ms Pratibha, Assistant Professor, Dept. of History.

A Preamble reading session was organized for faculty members of traditional coursesof the college on 15.04.2023 from 10:30 am-11:30 am at Lucile Memorial hall. The session was moderated by Mr Adweetiya Sinha. The Preamble was read by Adweetiya Sinha followed by teachers. It was followed by a lecture by Dr Vinita Priyedarshi, explaining the core values of Constitution of India. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms FizaDarakshan.

The students were shown a short film- ‘The Broken Table’ by Ms Fiza Darakshan. The film shows love and honesty to yourself. The short film depicts the unusual story of love and acceptance. The film unveils the roller coaster ride of journey called- life. The students discussed the various aspects of self-love. There are different aspects of the term- Broken. The students brought out the psychological crisis stemming from the absence of communication, clarity and compassion in relationship.
