Drone and Allied Technologies

The Department of Computer Applications (MCA) organized a Seven-day Boot Camp on “Drone and Allied Technologies” from 31st July, 2023 to 7th August, 2023 in collaboration with C-DAC Patna, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India.

Day 1: Inaugural Programme and Technical Session 1. The topic of Technical Session-I was “Flight and basic principles of flight”. The resource persons for this session were Mr. Ritesh R. Dhote, Joint Director, and Mr. Saket Kumar Jha, Principal Technical Officer, C-DAC Patna. Various applications of drones in different fields were discussed.

Day 2: The resource person, Mr. Pradeep Madan, Project Engineer, C-DAC Patna, discussed every aspect of the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Technology and explained its basic principles and applications.

Day 3: On Day 3 of the Bootcamp, the session was dedicated to “Components of a drone and their functions”. The resource person, Mr. Pradeep Madan, talked about building drones, and components identification and explained the system architecture.

Day 4: On Day 4 of the Bootcamp, the topic of discussion was “Drone Designing and Introduction to Mission Planner” and “Simulation of drones”. The resource person, Mr. Sidhhant, Project Engineer, C-DAC Patna, explained different aspects of Aerial Robotics. He demonstrated drone assembly to the students.

Day 5: On Day 5 of the Bootcamp, the topic of discussion was “Assembly of drones and Drone Calibration and Drone Flying”. Mr. Pradeep Nandan explained the working and applications of agriculture drones and surveillance drones. After that, each student got a chance to fly the drone in the College ground.

Day 6: Mr. P. Sai Krishna, Knowledge Associate, discussed interpreting data for decision-making and applications of AI and ML algorithms.

Day 7: Students of the MCA Department presented their ideas regarding the Applications of Drones for various scenarios. Altogether 10 groups presented their ideas, among which Group 1 on the topic “Greenhouse Pollination Using Drone” was the winning group. Members of the winning group were Saloni Singh, Anushika Sinha, Sana Fatima, Srishti Kumari, and Swarnima Mitra (MCA Semester III student). All the members of the winning team got Laptop bags from CDAC as a token of appreciation, in the presence of Mr. Ritesh R. Dhote, Joint Director, CDAC, and Dr. Bhawna Sinha, Head, Department of Computer Applications (MCA), Patna Women’s College.
